Specialty & Custom Stainless Steel Funnels and Cones
When a standard funnel configuration doesn’t meet your dimensional, material, or application requirements, Toledo Metal Spinning’s specialty hopper program is built for exactly that situation. Starting from existing spun stainless steel cone and funnel inventory, we utilize secondary forming processes including welding, polishing, edge roll forming and stamping, and custom fitting installation, to produce modified or fully custom assemblies that meet your exact specifications.

Because we begin with a seamlessly spun one-piece cone rather than a welded or fabricated blank, your custom funnel starts with a strong, clean base. The cone is formed from a single piece of 304 or 316 stainless steel, sourced in the United States, with a smooth tangential radius between the two, no weld seam at the transition, no weak point, no residue trap. Cylinder extensions can also be added to increase volume.
When welding is required, for fittings, flanges, or custom outlets, we use fixturing and techniques that produce 100% weld penetration on a single pass, eliminating the crack risk that comes from two-sided welding. Welds are then ground smooth and finished to the specified Ra surface value.
Specialty Stainless Steel Funnels & Cones
Toledo Metal Spinning’s specialty hopper funnels are manufactured in-house, using secondary forming processes including welding, polishing, edge roll forming and stamping. We can customize your hopper and are also happy to work with and support a fabrication shop of your choice. Starting with our hoppers & cones typically saves money by providing a quick and inexpensive solution, while providing the highest quality, 100% seamlessly formed cones on the market.
While welding on the tube end fitting to the funnel cone, we use weld fixtures and techniques to provide 100% weld penetration to eliminate crack issues and improve strength versus competitors that weld from both sides. Once we complete the weld, we grind it smooth. The cone and cylinder of the funel is one piece construction, with a tangential radius between the two. The funnels are formed from a single piece of high quality stainless steel sheet metal, either 304 or 316 grade, sourced in the United States.
Common Applications for Stainless Steel Funnels
Specialty funnels are used wherever product transfer or filling must occur in a hygienic environment. In food and beverage processing, they are standard components in filling lines for sauces, dairy products, beverages, and dry goods. In pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing, 316 stainless steel funnels with a 32 Ra finish are used in API transfer, sterile filling, and bioprocessing equipment. Other common applications include cosmetics and personal care manufacturing, chemical processing with corrosive media, and home brewing and craft beverage production.
If your application requires a fitting or outlet size, material grade, or dimensional configuration not shown in the table below, contact us or submit a drawing on our Request for Quote form. We build to print and can accommodate custom requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions About Stainless Steel Specialty Funnels
Yes. TMS builds to print and accepts CAD files, dimensional drawings, and sketches. If you have an existing part you need reproduced or a new design that needs to be developed, contact us, or send it to us through the Request a Quote form. We're happy to review it and will respond with a lead time and price estimate.
Standard builds are produced in 304 and 316 stainless steel. We can also work in aluminum, cold rolled steel, copper, and brass depending on your application requirements. If your application involves a specific material grade or alloy, contact us or submit a print using our Request a Quote form.Â
TMS performs all secondary fabrication in-house, including TIG welding, beading and edge rolling, stamping, CNC machining, laser cutting, and polishing to specified Ra surface finish values. This means your assembly can be completed with custom fittings, flanges, holes, and finishing in-house.
Lead times vary depending on complexity, material availability, and current production volume. Simple modifications to existing spun forms typically turn around faster than fully custom geometries and assemblies. Contact us with your requirements and we'll provide a lead time estimate along with your quote.
No, TMS produces specialty funnels in quantities from a single prototype through high-volume production runs. Whether you need one part for evaluation or ongoing production quantities, we can accommodate your order.
Toledo Metal Spinning’s stainless steel lids are designed to fit standard and sanitary funnels and cones, making them a practical and popular choice for covering, sealing, or protecting the contents of processing and mixing equipment. Each lid is. manufactured in-house from 304 or 316 stainless steel sources in the U.S.A., and is available in flat, beaded, or domed configurations to suit a range of applications and fit requirements. Whether it’s utilized as a basic cover for an industrial funnel or sanitary-grade for food processing or pharmaceuticals, TMS lid are built to the same quality standard as the hoppers they’re designed to fit.Â
