Importance of Metal Recycling

Metal recycling has a positive impact on the environment by assisting to preserve natural resources and reducing energy usage. Metal recycling is also a repeatable process and can be done an infinite amount of times. Each time other materials like plastic, paper, or cardboard are recycled, they lose a portion of their material properties. This is not the case with metals, as they can be remelted into their raw state. Recycling also benefits the supply chain by assisting to maintain a steady flow, providing significant advantages for manufacturing companies.

A Look Inside our Process: Rolling & Welding

At Toledo Metal Spinning Company, we offer custom cylinder fabrications tailored to a wide range of industries including aerospace, agriculture, automotive, construction, HVAC, industrial, and manufacturing. Using advanced equipment and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques, we ensure precision and meet the highest standards of quality.

Our rolling process begins with a laser-cut blank cut in-house. The blank is then put into the rolling machine, where it is rolled to its specified diameter. These forms are created by rolling flat sheets into a round shape, then sealing with a seam weldproduced with Jetline TIG welding equipment. Once the cylinder is welded, the planishing operation realigns the molecular structure of the metal to its original state. This process yields accurate dimensions with smooth, durable seams.

Cylinders have the option to be furnished with custom features including ribbed, custom formed ends, fittings, side holes, and flange options.

What is a Flange and what does it do?

Flanging is bending the metal of a surface, whether it is a blank, sheet metal, funnel, or a cylindrical shape, to a 90 degree angle. This is done by metal spinning or deep drawing a flange into the application, or by utilizing a flanging machine.  The Flanging process is typically combined with our rolling and welding processes. Flanges are used for connecting extensions together or for holding lids onto a part, and increase the strength and durability of the part once they are added.
